Ok. So I have come to the conclusion that I am awful at this whole blogging thing. My blog is "child's play" compared to most other blogs that I stumble upon. I sincerely apologize. I will try to keep things up, but ultimately if you have a severe interest in stalking me....may I suggest facebook? I'm far more sophisticated with that site, and waste lots of time there. But just for kicks, Ive provided some pics.

The City of Fuqing...

My roomie, Melissa and I
This picture of a massive fireworks pit would have been so much better if it wasnt for the chinese dude who threw the firework in right as I was taking my shot....he scared the tuna right out of me.

This little lady is a teacher at Mayflora School and one of the most bubbly girl I have ever met

Love locks

The locals of Fuqing showed us this really sweet hiking place....this was right before our sweet excursion.

The first 2 days that were spent in our dorms, none of us girls could figure out how to work the hot water. In fact, we were oblivious that there was even hot water available. Shaving our legs became a fatal attempt.

On our way to Fuqing we rode 10 hours on what is called a "sleeper bus" There were about 30 really hard beds and the bus reeked of nasty feet. Due to the fact that there was a chinese man who kept flashing a light into my eyeballs, I had a very difficult time sleeping.

So I got a little kick out of this one...

Here at the school in Fuqing, we are the first ever ILP group to come and teach english. The president of the school was so excited to have us that he made about a dozen huge bilboards with our ugly passport pictures and placed them all over the school. (I'm on the top right)

Im going to Fuqing China. Seriously.

So yesterday, I got a pretty crazy e-mail. I have officially been assigned to a city that ironically enough, sounds similar to the english f-bomb. Its a city of 1.3 million people almost right on the south-eastern coast of china. It is apparently one of the biggest exporters of seafood in the world. Lucky for me, I absolutely adore sea food. *wink wink*. I leave February 2nd. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!
p.s. I dont blame Prescott one itty bit.

"Congratulations! You've been accepted"

Good news! I recieved a glorious phone call today from this dude in Utah. After informing me that I've been accepted into the program he told me there was a lot of work to be done. Mostly filling out papers and sending documents and so forth. Ugh. That should be fun. But I've already started by getting my passport picture taken. Has there ever been a good picture in the history of passport pictures? If so, I would like to see proof! Because I look DANG HIDEOUS. The next step was calling the parental units. They all but shouted for joy when they heard the news. AY AY AY! I know its because they love me and worry about me getting sick or hurt and all that other great junk :) But regardless, I am so excited and really looking forward to the experience.

Application, Starvation and 2 thumbs up!!

So a couple weeks ago I shocked my parents with some pretty interesting and somewhat bizarre news...."I want to go to China!" After a jaw dropping silence, their response was not what I was hoping for. Mom doesn't want me eating bugs, and pigs feet...and who knows what dad is ever thinking, but I could just tell by his tone that his thoughts weren't good either.
The purpose of this trip is mostly to serve. I have applied with an organization called the International Language Program. It was created by a professor from BYU and all of the volunteers are required to follow by many of the LDS standards. From what I have heard thus far, its an absolutely amazing experience. They send out volunteers (all college students) to Russia, Ukraine and China. The goal in these countries is to teach young children English through model lessons. The application is in! I will most likely find out the results on Friday of this week....so fingers crossed....
