"Congratulations! You've been accepted"

Good news! I recieved a glorious phone call today from this dude in Utah. After informing me that I've been accepted into the program he told me there was a lot of work to be done. Mostly filling out papers and sending documents and so forth. Ugh. That should be fun. But I've already started by getting my passport picture taken. Has there ever been a good picture in the history of passport pictures? If so, I would like to see proof! Because I look DANG HIDEOUS. The next step was calling the parental units. They all but shouted for joy when they heard the news. AY AY AY! I know its because they love me and worry about me getting sick or hurt and all that other great junk :) But regardless, I am so excited and really looking forward to the experience.

Application, Starvation and 2 thumbs up!!

So a couple weeks ago I shocked my parents with some pretty interesting and somewhat bizarre news...."I want to go to China!" After a jaw dropping silence, their response was not what I was hoping for. Mom doesn't want me eating bugs, and pigs feet...and who knows what dad is ever thinking, but I could just tell by his tone that his thoughts weren't good either.
The purpose of this trip is mostly to serve. I have applied with an organization called the International Language Program. It was created by a professor from BYU and all of the volunteers are required to follow by many of the LDS standards. From what I have heard thus far, its an absolutely amazing experience. They send out volunteers (all college students) to Russia, Ukraine and China. The goal in these countries is to teach young children English through model lessons. The application is in! I will most likely find out the results on Friday of this week....so fingers crossed....
